Cave Quarries Inc. has been a family owned business for the last 55 years, beginning with Raymond Knies in 1960. Ray had purchased the business from William Cave, who started the company in the 1930’s. Since Raymond bought Cave Quarries, Inc. in 1960, his sons, Jeff and Joe Knies have worked to offer excavating and grading through their father’s start-up in 1949, Knies Construction, Inc., and asphalt paving through Calcar Paving, Inc., since 2008.

Calcar Paving, Inc. was started by the late Jerry Meadows of Paoli, IN in 1975, and specialized in heavy highway construction. Previous to the creation of Calcar Paving, Inc., Jerry specialized in Ready Mix Concrete Products in his Calcar Quarry, since the 1940’s. Along with Calcar Paving, Inc. and Calcar Quarry, Jeff and Joe purchased Tri-County Asphalt in 2011, which was started by Don Ritchey in 1998.

The Knies family has dedicated their working years to offering quality and service to the agricultural, commercial, residential, and industrial construction industries over the past 55 years. This has been achieved by delivering quality crushed limestone products, as well as quality hot mix asphalt products. We consider our quality and service second to none in the construction products and services industry in Southern Indiana. Our mission is to provide our customers with products and services of the highest quality and value.
